Black box (noun): “A complicated electronic device or system whose internal mechanism is usually hidden from the user”.
We’ve discussed the black box before. In-app monetization platforms that operate as black boxes create a huge gap in trust for both developers and demand partners.
Moving on from black box platforms levels the playing field. Letting all buyers compete at every price point — in which no segment of inventory is reserved only for certain demand partners — leads to higher CPMs and revenue despite macroeconomic challenges. Having access to bidding, waterfall, and impression-level revenue data is no longer a “nice to have” but a must.
