What is an Ad Unit?

An ad unit is a type of advertisement.

Mobile app developers insert ad units into their apps and display them to their users in exchange for a fee paid by the individual or company who purchased the ad.

Types of Ad Units

Ad units come in all shapes and sizes. Some of the more popular ad units include banner ads, interstitial ads, rewarded video ads, offerwall ads, and playable ads.

These ad units can be very different from each other. Rewarded video ads, for example, play videos, while offerwall ads emulate storefronts, from which users can make purchases.

Benefits of Ad Units

At the end of the day, ad units allow publishers to monetize the traffic their apps receive.
