What is App Store Analytics: Source Type?

“Source Type” refers to where your App Store product page visitors come from. Did they click on a link from the Today tab? Did they find your app via Search? Maybe they clicked on a Facebook Ad, which led them to your app. This is really important information.

When you understand where your page visitors come from, you can double down on those marketing channels. For example, you might find that one of your Facebook Ads campaigns is performing extremely well, so you invest more resources into it. You might also find that your traffic from Search is really low, so you decide to re-evaluate your ASO efforts.

To segment your app data by source type, log into App Store Connect and choose a metric to analyze. Then activate the “Source Type” filter to determine where your page visitors originate from. The “Source Type” filter is available for both Apps and App Clips.
