What is Deep Linking (in Apps)?

A deep link is any link that directs users to specific pieces of in-app content, such as individual product pages. This saves users time and often boosts conversion rates for app marketers.

Deep links can be placed just about anywhere, from old school emails to text messages to social media sites like Instagram… You could put a deep link on a billboard if you wanted to. That way, if someone were to drive by the billboard, pull over onto the side of the road, and  type the link into their phone, they’d end up exactly where you want them to.

It should be noted that deep linking only works on Android 6.0 and iOS 9 or higher. (You should also know that Apple refers to deep links as universal links.)
